Women are smart, thoughtful individuals who know what is best for them. They do not need old white men telling them what to do through more government regulations. What they do need is comprehensive age-apprpriate sex education, access to birth control and a life devoid of other men and women trying to control their sexuality.

Health Insurance Exchanges - Spread the Word!

We need Medicare Part E- E for Everyone, but in the meantime…

Come October all states must have Insurance Exchanges set up. Which means for those of you without health insurance or who can’t afford insurance, you’ll get a chance to enroll through your state’s insurance exchange. Maryland had one set up early and I used it to buy insurance. It was incredibly helpful and allowed me to critically compare different plans - something that would have been a nightmare without it.

Being part of an exchange should also make insurance coverage cheaper. Depending on your income, you might also qualify for a state/federal subsidy.

There is no pursuit of happiness without your health!

Dear Mitt Romney,

Your post election comments prove you to be blind once again. Healthcare is a right. An unhealthy sick person cannot contribute to society. The Dream Act is a logical and economically sound policy. We paid for these young children to attend elementary school and high school, why would we not let the best and brightest also attend college and become citizens? Keeping interest rates low on student loans is an investment in our future. America needs these talented individuals in order to remain competitive. You have obviously failed to recognize all of this and if the Republican party follows your lead, then this election shows the future and you will all lose (again).
